Precision Implant Placement Starts With Better Planning

At iCare Lab, we are not just 3D printing guides. We are your collaborating planning partners from CBCT analysis through final delivery. Your surgeon sends us the patient's CBCT scan and an Digital scan. Our technician imports both into, merges the bone anatomy with the soft tissue data, and designs virtual implant positions that optimise bone utilisation, prosthetic outcome, and safety.

Surgical Guide Dental Lab Services

Precision Surgical Guide Dental Lab Services

Custom digital surgical guides designed for accurate implant placement, predictable surgery, and streamlined restorative workflows for clinicians across London.

Fully Guided Surgical Guide (Single or Multi-Unit)

The most precise protocol. Titanium sleeves control the entire osteotomy depth, angle, and diameter. The surgeon cannot deviate from the planned position — the guide is completely deterministic. Ideal for single implants, complex anatomical cases, and multi-unit situations where position accuracy is critical.

From £150 per guide

Pilot Surgical Guide

Titanium sleeves guide only the pilot drill, not the final implant fixture placement. This provides directional control and accurate depth but allows slightly more variability at implant insertion compared to full guidance. Useful for surgeons who prefer some tactile control during final placement, or for cases with softer bone where full guidance might cause binding.

From £140 per guide

Tooth-Supported Surgical Guide

A surgical guide that rests on and is retained by existing teeth, providing excellent stability and spatial reference. Ideal for partially edentulous patients where remaining tooth structure can anchor the guide. Provides high precision due to stable positioning.

From £160 per guide

Tissue-Supported Surgical Guide

For edentulous patients, the surgical guide is retained by soft tissue anatomy alone. Requires meticulous CBCT planning and precise bony landmark identification. More technique-sensitive than tooth-supported guides but essential for completely edentulous cases.

From £150 per guide

How It Works

Surgical Guide Dental Lab — Step by Step

From the moment you send your case to the moment it arrives back at your practice — here is exactly what happens.

Data Submission & Intake

Receive CBCT & Scan Data You submit patient CBCT (DICOM files), Digital scan (STL), and clinical notes describing the surgical objectives and anatomical constraints.

Digital Treatment Planning

Collaborative Planning Our technician designs virtual implant positions. Design incorporates bone density analysis, nerve anatomy, and prosthetic requirements. Design is shared with you and the surgeon for review and approval.

Review & Design Approval

3D Print & Assemble Guide is 3D printed in biocompatible resin using high-precision 3D printers. Titanium sleeves are carefully assembled into the sleeve seats. Guide is polished, sterilised, and packaged with usage instructions.

Final Delivery & Protocol

Delivery Surgical guide arrives with identification, sleeve compatibility information, and step-by-step surgical protocol.

Surgical Guide Dental Lab London - Common Questions

A surgical guide is a 3D-printed custom instrument that mechanically directs the dental drill during implant surgery. It contains titanium sleeves positioned at exact angles and depths corresponding to your digitally planned implant positions. The guide ensures consistent, predictable implant placement according to the pre-operative plan, reducing surgical errors and improving overall case predictability.
A surgical guide is designed collaboratively between our technician and your surgical team. We import your patient’s CBCT scan (bone anatomy) and IOS scan (soft tissue and tooth anatomy) surgical planning software. Virtual implants are positioned optimising bone use, prosthetic outcome, and safety. The design is reviewed, approved, and locked before guide manufacturing.
5 to 7 working days from CBCT and Digital scan submission through delivery of the finished 3D-printed guide. This includes design planning, surgeon approval, 3D printing, assembly, sterilisation, and packaging. For urgent cases, 3-day express turnaround is often available for a +30% surcharge.
Surgical guides are compatible with all major implant systems including Straumann, Nobel Biocare, Megagen, Zimmer Biomet, Osstem, Anthogyr, and more. Specify your implant system and implant library when submitting CBCT data and we design the guide accordingly.
Fully guided guides control the entire osteotomy — the pilot drill, intermediate drills, and implant seating depth. The surgeon cannot deviate. Pilot guides control only the pilot drill direction and depth, providing guidance for initial positioning but allowing variable final implant seating. Full guidance is more precise; pilot guidance offers more surgeon control.
Guides are most valuable for multi-unit cases, complex anatomical situations, and cases involving poor bone quality where precise positioning is critical. For simple single-tooth implants, the clinical benefit may not justify the cost and timeline of guide fabrication. Your surgeon and technician can discuss which approach is optimal.
