PFM Crown - iCare Lab London

Reliable, Proven, Cost-Effective - PFM from a London Lab You Can Trust

Porcelain-fused-to-metal remains one of the most widely prescribed crown and bridge materials in UK dentistry. Its proven clinical track record, established cementation protocols, and cost-effectiveness for posterior cases make it a continued staple of private dental practice. At iCare Lab, our PFM restorations are fabricated with the same attention to marginal accuracy, occlusal precision, and shade matching as every other restoration leaving our laboratory.

PFM Crown Services

Reliable Fixed Restorations. Consistent Clinical Results.

Whether it’s a single PFM crown or a multi-unit bridge, every case is produced with attention to fit, strength, and natural appearance.

PFM Crown (Non-Precious CoCr)

Cost-effective cobalt-chromium based PFM crown for posterior cases where strength is the primary requirement. Excellent porcelain bond strength, proven long-term clinical performance, and reliable marginal accuracy. Suitable for both NHS and private patients in posterior locations.

PFM Crown (Precious Gold Alloy)

High-gold and palladium-based PFM crown for patients requiring maximum biocompatibility or where non-precious allergy is a concern. Precious alloys provide exceptional porcelain bonding, outstanding marginal fit, and proven decades-long clinical longevity. Preferred choice for patients with metal sensitivities.

PFM Bridge (3–4 Units)

Multi-unit PFM bridges in precious or non-precious metal for posterior fixed bridgework. Metal substructure provides the framework strength required for longer-span bridges while porcelain veneering delivers acceptable posterior aesthetics. A reliable, clinically proven solution for replacing missing posterior teeth.

Full Metal Crown (Gold)

Full cast gold crowns for posterior cases where aesthetics are secondary to maximum functional performance. Gold remains the most biocompatible crown material in dentistry with an exceptional clinical track record. Particularly suitable for heavily bruxist patients or cases with limited interocclusal space.

PFM Crown - Common Questions

Everything dentists ask before sending us their first fixed case.
Still Have a Question?

Yes. Despite the growth of all-ceramic options, PFM remains a clinically relevant and widely prescribed material. We produce PFM crowns and bridges in both precious (high-gold, palladium) and non-precious (cobalt-chromium) alloys at our Croydon dental laboratory with the same clinical standard as all our restorations.
PFM crowns in non-precious alloy start from £85 per unit on our Private tier. Precious alloy PFM starts from £110. Full pricing is published at icarelab.co.uk/prices – no phone calls for quotes.
Precious alloys (high-gold, palladium) offer superior biocompatibility, outstanding porcelain bond strength, and are preferred for patients with known metal sensitivities. Non-precious cobalt-chromium alloys are more cost-effective with proven clinical strength. We will recommend the right choice for each clinical situation.
Yes. We fabricate PFM bridges from 3 to 4 units in both precious and non-precious alloys. The metal substructure provides the framework strength needed for multi-unit span cases. Contact your named technician to discuss connector dimensions and occlusal design.
Yes. PFM in non-precious alloy remains within NHS band 3 prescription protocols and is a common choice for NHS crown and bridge work. Our NHS-compatible PFM pricing is available on our price list at icarelab.co.uk/prices.
Yes. We accept digital impression files for PFM crown and bridge cases from all major IOS systems. Physical impressions are also accepted if your practice has not yet transitioned to digital workflows.
